  • Dynamic Caching
In order to realize more advanced mosaic representations, like augmented effects and realities, standard memory pools are insufficient due to bandwidth limitations within standard desktop hardware. We have developed LiveMosaic's Dynamic Caching to facilitate enhanced real-time effects. The dynamic cache ensures that the most referenced images are available directly within the desktop's graphic card and therefore reducing the bandwidth required. This process prevents duplicate, unnecessary, images from being uploaded to the graphics card.

The figure on the right illustrates the dynamics within a texture pool, where Level 1 represents the images used within the current mosaic representation. Level 2 represents the memory pool containing possible near matches for potential use. Images are prioritized by reference count which decides the hierarchical importance of each image within the cache.
